101 in 1001 days list update

4 Feb

In August of 2009, Jay and I put together this list. It’s our 101 in 1001 days list and it’s a list of things we’d like to finish or accomplish in 1001 days. We started this list on August 7, 2009 and May 4, 2012 will be our 1001 day deadline! It’s crazy how much time has gone by since we compiled this list. As I was updating the list I was also astounded at how much of this I would change if I could redo the list. And it also reminded me of some of the goals that we set that we’ve lost our way on a little bit. It’s really interesting how much you can change in just a little over a year. If I was creating this list today, it would look a lot different, that’s for sure! But I’m not going to change the list. I’m going to finish what we started and see how much of it we can accomplish before May 4, 2012. I am excited though, to create a new list once this one is over. It’s been a great way to reach our own personal goals and to look back and remember how much we’ve done and to be reminded of the things we’d still like to do! So I thought you’d like to see our updates here.

If you haven’t done it yet, I encourage you to start your own 101 list. I will warn you though, thinking of 101 goals you’d like to reach is not as easy as you’d think! It took us quite awhile to put together this list and we were so jazzed when we finished it. We weren’t expecting it to be so difficult, but coming up with 101 things is a bit challenging! It was a great challenge though and makes you think about what’s important to you and what goals you’d like to complete. Not only that, but it gives you a deadline to complete it all in so it’s not SO overwhelming. It was a fun project for us, even though I’d change the list a bit now. It’s amazing how much you change in a year and a half. And now that I’m in my late twenties (YIKES) I find myself changing more than ever and also settling into who I am somewhat. So that’s kinda cool.

Check out our list! And stay tuned for the next one. Well, in 2012.

list update

8 Dec

Remember the 101 Things in 1001 Days list that we started working on a few months back? We are still chipping away at it, one item at a time. I thought I’d post a list update of all the things we have accomplished this far.

I love having goals. I love completing goals even more. I’m the girl that has a ‘To Do’ list every single day. I love crossing things off my list each day. It’s dumb, but it gives me a sense of accomplishment and it makes me feel like I’m actually getting stuff done! This has given Jason and I a tangible way of looking at the things that we want to do in the next 1001 days.

If you have the time, you should make your own list. Trust me, it’s a lot harder than you might think! It took us an entire car ride back from California and a couple days later to complete our list. It was hard for us.

So here’s the update! All the items in bold are the ‘things’ we’ve completed since we started this list.

second chance

7 Sep

We all deserve a second chance, right?

I have completely failed at completing P90X the first time around. Not only is the workout extremely intense, but it requires an hour or more commitment 6 days out of 7. Now, I don’t know about you, but finding time to shower each day is a challenge enough. I know it seems like I would have all the time in the world- being a stay at home mom and all. But let me just tell you, being a mom is the hardest, most time consuming thing I’ve ever done. And then I’m working full time on top of it.

Showering is a luxury these days, let alone getting in a good workout.

*Sigh*

But I have to commit to it. I have to. I need to start over and get myself into better shape. Something is going to have to take a back seat here, and it’s not going to be my health. The house cleaning can wait. And it will, let me tell you.

So I am starting over. Today. September 7th, 2009 is DAY 1.

In doing 90 days of P90X, my last day- the day in which I complete the program- will be December 5th, 2009. Just in time for the holidays.

Whatever that means.

Please help keep me accountable. I really want to do this, but need encouragement from YOU to make it a priority every single day. It’s hard. It’s a lot of work.

Most things that are good in life are just that way it seems. It’ll be worth it in the end.

101 things in 1001 days

7 Aug

Jay & Jess

So Jay and I got this idea from this blog and thought it was an awesome and inspiring idea! We are all about stuff like this and were very encouraged to think creatively to compile this list.

As we were on the way home from Disneyland we thought, Sure! Let’s start writing out our list and we’ll have it finished in no time. It took the entire car ride and longer.

We’ve been home from Disneyland how long? And we have just now completed this list. It was really hard. We could’ve listed 101 places to travel to, but that’s  totally not realistic for us right now.

So we thought long and hard about things that we really want to accomplish within the next 1001 days. It was a really difficult task. But it was so awesome because we were really able to talk about the different things we want to do, goals we each have, and brainstorm about what the next 1001 days is going to look like for us!

In the end, we are super happy with this list, very encouraged about the future and excited to get started!

So here we begin… We are starting this list today, August 7th, 2009. And in 1001 days we hope to have most, if not all of these things completed! Our end date will be 1001 days from now, which is May 4th, 2012. That seems so far away!

Check out our list and remember- these are not in any specific order at all. And we don’t plan on completing them in this order. Ha!

And you should definitely do this if you’re planning on being in the car for a long time. It’s a great conversation piece and it takes forever.
