what if the whole world prayed?

26 May

1yssggI know it’s speculation. And really none of my business.

But I still have so many thoughts about it. And I can’t shake it.

Jason and I watched the season premiere of Jon and Kate Plus 8 on Monday night. I was expecting to tune in and see the opposite of the drama that’s been reported. And I’m not a huge gossip magazine reader… I don’t listen to tabloids… I’m interested like the rest of the world sometimes, but generally, I don’t really keep up too much.

Their drama’s been hard to avoid.

I was hoping to tune in and to see that the media is actually blowing their situation way out of proportion- pictures taken that weren’t actually what they looked like, rumors expelled…

It broke my heart, what we watched.

What we watched was either one of two things. It was either 1). a family on the verge of divorce, under the limelight, stressed, and being pulled apart by the media or 2). a media frenzy being created by starting rumors about this family in order to drive more ratings for the show.

Either way, I am heart broken for them.

After the show, Jason posted on his twitter and he asked ‘What if the whole world prayed for the Gosselins?’ And that really got me thinking.

What if the whole world actually prayed for the Gosselin’s?

That is an amazing thought. I feel as though Jon and Kate have been entrusted with a responsibility. The entire world is watching. And how truly amazing would it be if they were able to salvage their marriage after all this? To work through the extremely hard times and to come through on the other end? To say that by the grace of God they were able to stand by one another as they vowed to do? For God to be glorified through them after this hard time?

Wow. That thought just blows me away.

They have a platform, to say the least. People are watching them. People are waiting for them to mess up and split up. And that makes me deeply sad for them.

The entire energy of the show on Monday was completely different than the Gosslin’s we’ve all come to love. Maybe they are just trying to be honest and display this season in their lives. Maybe it’s all staged, and then that’s an entirely different set of issues. Maybe they’re just caught up in this huge responsibility and have lost sight of what’s important.

We’ve all done that, haven’t we?

I just hope they realize that the best thing for their kids is not to split up. It’s to stick together when things just suck and to complete what they vowed to do when they started their lives together.

    I agree.
    We should PRAY for them
They are God loving Christians that need the encouragement of the Christian world – not the world that is deteriorating their family.
Let’s start a PRAYER revolution for them.
    Through FB, Twitter, Whatever.

I agree!! It could change their lives if everyone we know prayed for them…. Man, what a cool way to come out of something so dark- knowing that so many people were praying.

ugh I agree too! I hated watching what I did last night. I hate that they think that Kate is such a bad mom. In no way have I ever seen her do anything to put her kids aside. When they say we do it for the kids, they really do, they aren’t lying to the least. So, I agree with you in saying that I hope they pull together and c that thier marriage is what is best for the kids, and try to pull thru this.
    I will b praying!

God, I lift Jon and Kate Gosselin up to you. I thank you for designing them, for bringing them together. I thank you for their infertility that led to twins and sextuplets. I thank you that you have used the curiosity of the world to provide for their family. I thank you that they have been able to use the avenue of television to show the world that families can and do love you – together. Right now, God, Jon and Kate are hurting. Their marriage is in chaos and they don’t know what will happen and where they will go. So God, I pray right now for your power and love and grace and mercy to pour into the hearts of Jon and Kate and to pour into their marriage. I pray that you reveal yourself to each of them in a mighty way. Reveal your love, but also show them their sin. Show them how they have turned from you. Show them forgiveness. Through that, God, I know that your desire is to restore their marriage and make it more beautiful than it ever has been. I pray God, that you are in the midst of their struggle and that you remove Satan from every corner of their hearts and of their home. I pray that through all of this, that YOU are glorified. I pray that “God moments” are filmed and that those moments make it through to the final production of the show. I pray that Jon and Kate have the courage to publicly turn to you and then to publicly proclaim how good You are. I pray that you use their marriage – the ugly and the restoration to beautiful – to heal other’s marriages and to bring Your beauty back into the public institution of marriage. God I pray that Jon and Kate are overwhelmed by love and that you place a bubble around them and their family. Let that bubble protect them from the evil words, the ugly photos, the hurtful stories. I pray that only YOUR TRUTH is able to penetrate into their hearts. God I pray that many others will lift up prayers for Jon and for Kate. I thank you. I love you. I ask that you grant this prayer so that all glory and praise returns to you. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen
