wise words

13 Jan

My sweet friend Tanya posted this on her facebook yesterday. She always manages to post these little things that either make me smile, give me a glimmer of hope or is exactly what I needed to hear. She’s very sweet and has a beautiful (I mean gorgeous!) family. These small words she posted yesterday were a great reminder to me, as I’m still sorting out a bunch of “stuff”. You know that kind, right? Picking up pieces in my heart still. Working on forgiveness still. Anxious about the future still. Mad at people still.

I’m just being honest.

And this made me smile and also helped me focus on what’s actually important in my life, and not the lies that are still being told in my head.

So here it is. Followed by a couple pictures of her and her family from a photo shoot we did with them a couple months back. This family is amazing. This woman is amazing.

“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest people may cheat you.
Be honest anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
Give the best you got anyway.

You see, in the end it’s between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.”

What a timely post. I’m right there with you, friend- sometimes conflict and forgiveness is a long road but there is ultimately a light at the end of the tunnel- whether it ends with the other person or God himself. That’s what I’ve learned in recent weeks. Wise words your friend posted :)

Thanks girl! Yes, it’s such a hard lesson to learn. It’s always nice to remember that everyone is dealing with this in some form or another, you know? I’m here for you if you ever need! Love you!
